Vervoer
Vervoer van uw hotel in Paramaribo naar de start van de tour v.v.
From the Plattebrug we cross the Suriname River with a traditional tent boat and arrive at Veerplein (Meerzorg), where we cycle to visit Plantation Peperpot. Along the way we pass houses mainly of Javanese and Hindustani.
Peperpot is a former plantation across the Suriname River, not far from Paramaribo. It is not a pepper plantation, as one might think! The plantation was established in the early 19th century by the Jansen family as a coffee and cocoa plantation. On the plantation complex there are two plantation houses, namely a coffee shed and a coffee and cocoa factory. Production continued until 1996. You can still recognize the coffee and cocoa trees, which are now overgrown with bromeliads, orchids and climbing plants.
On the way back we cycle to one of the eateries for a delicious lunch. After lunch we cycle to the boat for the crossing back to Paramaribo.
A bike ride to Peperpot plantation is a wonderful blend of history, nature and a pleasantly welcoming encounter with the Javanese and Hindu residents!
