Tour description
Danpaati River Resort is located near the village of Dan, in the residential area of the Saramacca, on the Upper Suriname River in the middle of the tropical rainforest. Literally, Danpaati means "island near Dan" in the Saramacca language. Dan lies on the other side of the river and is Saramacca for "rapids".
Many rare tree and plant species can only be found here. As well as the many birds and animals that have their natural habitat only in Upper Suriname. The chance of meeting a caiman, leopard or jaguar really exists here, but they are shy by nature and will probably notice you before you even see them. You can fully enjoy the pristine nature, rare tropical animals, and you will also get to know the Saramaca culture.
You can choose between a 3-day or 4-day tour. The content of the program will be adjusted according to the number of days. Canoeing, traditional fishing, traditional massages and yoga are some activities that are possible upon special request.

Day 1
Paramaribo – Danpaati
Early in the morning, an approximately 3-hour drive will take you to Atjoni where you will transfer to a korjaal. From here, you will sail for a few hours on the winding Suriname River through the tropical rainforest. Then the jetty of the Danpaati lodge appears. A welcome drink, snack and then explore the garden. In the afternoon you can, if the water is sufficient, bathe in a nearby sula (rapids).
Day 2
Village visits and caymans
On the second day, you will hike with a guide through one of the villages affiliated with Danpaati, with a visit to the unique Maroon residents in Pikinslee. If the tide is high, you can participate in a trek down a hidden creek. You'll end the day with caiman spotting in the deep dark.
Day 3
Creek Tour
In the morning, you will go in goose step on a brisk forest walk. The guide will inform you about the 'jungle pharmacy'. Later in the evening, after dinner, you will enjoy a special cultural dance performance. Traditional dances such as the Seketi, Awasa and Bandamba will be performed. The guide will explain the meaning of these dances.

Day 4
Danpaati – Paramaribo
Nice time for yourself. You've probably already discovered that there are ideal places to dream away with a book or just with the view over the water and the sounds of the jungle. Depending on the water level, you can kayak or fish. Departure after lunch.
